Scribe has just released a brand new product we are lovingly calling the “Fast Connector Framework” and we’re all pretty stoked about it. So, what is the Fast Connector Framework you may ask? As the name may imply, its a new framework we built to help you build Scribe Online Connectors…faster. Creative, I know.
The Framework was built by our developers here originally to help our Pre-Sales teams build some really compelling connectors for use with Proof of Concepts or demos. But, once we started making use of it we realized there was more potential here than what we were currently using it for, so we spent some time to add more functionality to it in order to release it into the wild. Now, anyone who has a specific endpoint in mind that is not already connected to the scribe platform can spend a little time in visual studio and build out a solution to that problem.
The Framework helps take some of the more tedious coding tasks and automates them for you by gathering input from you via a form.
This is the baseline for your connector, how do you authenticate, and what do you need to do once you do.
Next you define your metadata. Now, those of you familiar with Scribe might start to scratch you head as metadata has always been collected automatically and can be refreshed inside the platform UI. The Fast Connector framework does not give you every feature of the CDK, just the ones you need to get a simple connector stood up and working. Anytime you come across a barrier in the FCF that cannot be accomplished, then its time to move over to the CDK.
Once you have your metadata you are ready to connect the dots and build your connector. You can deploy these connectors to any local agent, no need to have our dev ops team certify them for local deploys. If you want to be able to provision these connectors to your customers or if they have merit to be added to our marketplace, you can submit them to us for code review and then they can be loaded to our cloud.
There are a LOT of details in the help that will walk you through exactly how to build out these fast connectors so I will spare everyone from going to deep here. This framework will open the doors to audiences that never before could have built new connectivity to the Scribe Online Platform, people who are not experienced developers, but who can find their way around a if statement or two.
